Helicopter Fly By Of Soufriere Hills Volcano, Montserrat
March 2005

One of the interesting and sometimes challenging things about living near an active volcano is that the geography of our small island is evolving at a very rapid pace. The following photos were taken by Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) staff during one of their routine visual inspections of the volcano by helicopter on March 22, 2007.

The enormous changes in Soufriere's landscape can be appreciated by taking a look at the volcano portion of a photographic helicopter tour of the entire island taken in October of 2005. Click here to see the 2007 island tour.

All of the following photos are courtesy of the MVO. We are very grateful to its Director, Dr. Vicky Hards, for her generosity in sharing them with us on our web site.
