Fly By of the Entire Island of Montserrat One of the interesting and sometimes challenging things about living near an active volcano is that the geography of the small island is evolving at a very rapid pace. The enormous changes in its landscape can be appreciated by taking a look at the volcano portion of a photographic helicopter tour of the entire island taken in October of 2007. The photographs here in 2005 are courtesy of veterinarian, Dr. Wolf Krebs and his wife, physician Dr. Inge Krebs, once residents of Montserrat. The helicopter in the photograph below was at that time the British subsidized air transport for the island as well as being the scientific support helicopter for the MVO. The island lost this transport option along with its British subsidized ferry service when the new British funded airport was completed to accommodate tiny fixed wing airplanes.
