Last Helicopter Fly By Of Soufriere Hills Volcano, Montserrat in 2007

One of the interesting and sometimes challenging things about living near an active volcano is that the geography of our small island is evolving at a very rapid pace. The following photos are the latest taken by Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) staff during one of their routine visual inspections of the volcano by helicopter for 2007.

The enormous changes in Soufriere's landscape can be appreciated by taking a look at the volcano portion of a photographic helicopter tour of the entire island taken in October of 2005. Click here to see the 2005 island tour.

All of the following photos are courtesy of the MVO. We are very grateful to its previous Director, Dr. Vicky Hards, for her generosity in sharing them with us on our web site.
